Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) has revived plans to establish a women’s rehabilitation facility in Ulysses, following interruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ithaca Voice reports, a 9,270 square-foot building with 25 beds was proposed in 2019, adjacent to the existing 60-bed CARS facility catering to men. The pandemic’s onset halted the project, causing the 18-month site plan approval to lapse.
Recently, with CARS affiliating with Cayuga Health System, a modified design was submitted. The revamped proposal features a 13,385 square-foot building, approximately 50% larger than initially planned.
The project, overseen by Fontanese Folts Aubrecht Ernst Architects, remains under discussion by the Ulysses Planning Board.
