A recent decision by the Yates County Legislature to introduce a new role to the information technology department has encountered opposition from several of its members.
The Finger Lakes Times reported on Wednesday that during Monday’s meeting, legislators debated the merits of a proposal to establish a computer technical specialist trainee position.
The potential cost for this addition could vary between $47,645 to $74,770, influenced by benefits and health insurance considerations.
While some legislators expressed concerns about the county’s spending and suggested deferring the decision to the budget deliberation period, others highlighted the immediate need.
Despite the opposition, the proposal received the green light.
