Ian Milam, a 37-year-old sixth-grade math teacher at Cosgrove Middle School in the Spencerport School District, has been charged with the production, receipt, and possession of child pornography, as well as the transfer of obscene material to a minor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
The charges followed an investigation which began when Greece Police discovered a sexually explicit video on a 12-year-old’s phone, allegedly sent to her by an 11-year-old friend.
Authorities traced two involved Snapchat accounts back to Milam, who is accused of posing as a high school student and engaging in explicit exchanges with minors.
The FBI urges anyone with information about Milam or the Snapchat accounts to come forward. If convicted, Milam could face 15 to 30 years in prison. He remains in custody with a detention hearing scheduled for August 14.
