The New York Yankees’ (54-49) suffered another frustrating loss on Friday night, falling 1-0 to the Baltimore Orioles (63-40) in the series opener.

It was a scoreless game until the bottom of the ninth inning when Anthony Santander crushed a walk-off home run against Tommy Kahnle, giving the Orioles the victory.

New York had multiple opportunities on offense but failed to capitalize like they have all season. DJ LeMahieu had two of the team’s four hits, while Aaron Judge walked three times in his first game since June 3.

Gerrit Cole tossed seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five. The right-hander now owns a 2.64 ERA this season, the best in the American League.

The Yankees will try to even the three-game series on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. with Clarke Schmidt on the hill.
