The New York Mets (45-50) have won three straight after taking down the Chicago White Sox (40-57) for a second straight night, this time by a final score of 5-1.

Brett Baty smacked his seventh home run of the season, his second in as many games, and later recorded another RBI with a groundout. Franciso Alvarez and Brandon Nimmo drove in runs with base hits, while Luis Guillorme added a sacrifice fly.

Justin Verlander tossed eight innings of one-run ball while striking out seven, improving to 4-5 on the season and lowering his ERA to 3.72. Adam Ottavino fired a quick 1-2-3 ninth.

New York will go for the three-game sweep on Thursday as Jose Quintana makes his Mets debut. The first is slated for 1:10 p.m.
