A man was arrested Friday morning following an extensive chase spanning Ontario and Seneca counties, according to state police.
The pursuit initiated at approximately 8:30 a.m., after the suspect refused to pull over his vehicle for a state trooper in the city of Geneva.
The ensuing chase spanned a complex web of local roads and highways, with the pursued driver’s speed varying from 45 to slightly over 70 mph.
The suspect led law enforcement on a winding course through multiple roads, with the chase continuing onto Pre-Emption Street and Border City Road before veering toward Byrne Dairy.
The suspect then returned to 5&20, progressing toward the city. As traffic caused the suspect to slow down on Lakefront Drive, police seized the opportunity to deploy traffic spikes, successfully flattening the right-side tires of the fleeing vehicle.
Despite the vehicle’s right-side tires being disabled and smoke billowing from the rims scraping against the pavement, the suspect continued his attempted escape.
Approximately 45 minutes after the pursuit began, it concluded at the intersection of County Road 5 and Routes 5&20, adjacent to the Ontario County landfill. The man was then taken into custody, marking the end of the expansive cross-county chase.
