The third annual Taste of the Finger Lakes, an event designed to showcase the diversity of local food and drink options while addressing food injustice, is set to return in-person on June 13.

The festival, which supports local food systems and provides a unique networking platform for local businesses, was launched in 2020 and conducted virtually due to the pandemic.

This year’s event aims to create a shared space for food and beverage providers, presenting them with networking and partnership opportunities, ultimately fostering a spirit of community and local business support.

In its first in-person edition last year, Taste of the Finger Lakes was a resounding success, featuring 40 vendors and raising $26,245 for local nonprofit beneficiaries. This year, all ticket sales proceeds will benefit The Youth Farm Project, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Healthy Food for All, and the Friendship Donation Network.

These organizations align closely with the event’s mission, tackling food insecurity, promoting food justice, and enabling access to quality food for everyone in the community.

In a bid to promote sustainability, the event also features a low waste policy, with leftover food donated to the community and the use of compostable utensils. The event, sponsored by CFCU Community Credit Union among others, is scheduled for June 13 at the Ithaca Farmers Market at Steamboat Landing.
