The race for Seneca County Sheriff has really simplified.
While it looked like there might be a contested primary and general election, the former has at least been settled.
Lt. Tim Thompson wound up being the only person to submit the necessary petitions by last week’s deadline. He’ll appear on the Republican and Conservative lines in November’s election.
There won’t be a primary because the two candidates that would have been challenging, had dropped out of the race before the petition deadline.
Both Mike Rhinehart and John Morabito bowed out of the race for different reasons.
Rhinehart opted to run for re-election to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors. While Morabito, the former Border City Fire Chief, bowed out citing circumstances beyond his control.
