The Buffalo Sabres (41-33-7, 89 points) capped off the home portion of their regular season schedule with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night at KeyBank Center.
Buffalo trailed 3-2 heading into the final 20 minutes, but Tage Thomspon sniped his 47th goal to tie the game and eventually force overtime. A minute and 18 seconds into the extra period, Casey Mittelstadt scored the game-winner, his 14th.

Henri Jokiharju (3) and Victor Olofsson (27) also found the back of the net, while Craig Anderson stopped 30-of-33 shots in his final NHL game.
The Sabres will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the season finale on Friday at Nationwide Arena. The puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
