A Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputy sustained injuries while attempting to take a Bath man into custody on Sunday. According to reports, 49-year-old Brian Rosell was being arrested for allegedly stealing property in the town of Bath when he injured the deputy. Rosell was subsequently charged with felony assault and felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The incident occurred when the Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to take Rosell into custody. During the arrest, Rosell reportedly resisted and assaulted the deputy, causing injuries that required medical attention. The deputy was immediately transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
Rosell was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine while being held in the county jail. He was subsequently charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in addition to his assault charge. Rosell is currently being held without bail.
