The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the afternoon and evening of Friday, April 7th, following a prolonged period of damp weather. The imminent stretch of dry conditions, coupled with low humidity and gusty winds, will heighten the risk of fire.
The agency warned, “Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly,” and advised against outdoor burning. New York State’s annual burn ban is in effect until May 14th.
The Fire Weather Watch encompasses all of Central New York, as well as the Catskills and Adirondacks areas.
