Good news for those looking to see more development in the village of Newark.
Officials say there are three active hotel projects in the works there, which is serious progress for a community that lacked any lodging options just a couple years ago.
Earlier this year it was reported that the former Newark Garden Hotel would undergo a $10 million transformation. There’s also the Newark Canalside Hotel located on Van Buren Street, which is supported by the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. And now, Indus Hospitality Group is proposing a four-story, 70-room Microtel to go on East Union Street.
Village officials are excited about the growth, but the project still has to go through relevant planning and zoning committees.
