Rochester Gas & Electric is set to deploy smart meters for customers located in Wayne and Cayuga counties by July.
The utility company plans to install the devices for approximately 26,000 customers to improve the accuracy of their billing and provide them with real-time data on their energy consumption.
RG&E aims to hold two open houses for customers to learn more about the upcoming installations, with the first scheduled on Tuesday, February 21st from 5-7 p.m. at the Sodus Community Library, and the second on Thursday, March 2nd at Leavenworth Middle School in Wolcott during the same hours.
With the smart readers in place, the energy provider expects to improve its services, ultimately benefiting customers in the long run.
