On Friday, state police in Williamson responded to a 911 call on Canada Street in the village of Red Creek.
Upon arriving at the scene, 29-year-old Trevor Anthony of Martville began to engage in a physical altercation with the troopers.
One of the troopers was seriously injured in the altercation and both the trooper and Anthony were transported to Newark-Wayne Hospital for treatment. While Anthony was released from the hospital, the trooper remains unable to return to duty due to the severity of his injuries.
After being released from the hospital, Anthony was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction. In addition, authorities discovered that Anthony was wanted in another case for Failure to Appear in a Petit Larceny case and traffic violations.
Anthony was taken to CAP Court and a District Attorney suggested a bail amount of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. However, he was released and is scheduled to appear in Wolcott Town Court on the new charges.
