Police arrested a 35-year-old Penn Yan resident following an incident at the First Baptist Church.
Edward Galvin III, 35, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property after being found with stolen cans that were intended for Boy Scouts of America.
He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date.
Police said Gavin had outstanding warrants in Newark, so he was turned over to authorities in Wayne County.
