Liquor laws updated in New York to make life easier for catered events

New York is expanding the number of places where liquor can legally be served.

A bill signed by Governor Kathy Hochul was intended to make it easier for liquor to be served at catered events.

The update that was signed into law late last week takes aim at the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, which limits where alcohol can be sold.

The law allows businesses that don’t have dining facilities to serve beverages at venues where catered events are taking place.

Many see this is as a necessary step to simplify the catering business for New Yorkers.
