Education officials in New York are hoping to see a $3.4 billion dollar increase in the state budget coming out soon.
Some of the goals the education department has includes expanding the current pre-kindergarten programs for three and four-year-olds by the year 2035. They also want to be able to provide better access to career and technical programs.
The school system in New York has used the state aid sent to help offset the problems created with the COVID-19 pandemic. There have also been tax increases for wealthier New Yorkers which has increased state aid for schools. An increase in next year’s budget is expected, with a spending plan expected to pass by the end of March 2023.
