For the first time in program history, the Syracuse Orange men’s soccer team has won the NCAA National Championship.
Syracuse defeated the 13-seeded Indiana Hoosiers, 7-6, in the penalty kick shootout after a 2-2 draw at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina on Monday night.
Syracuse held two leads in regulation, including one late, but Indiana tied the game in the 79th minute to force overtime. After neither team scored in overtime, Aferny Sinclair’s shootout goal lifted the Orange to victory.
