Wegmans chocolate recalled for hidden milk allergen

A popular chocolate treat sold by Wegmans has been recalled due to an undeclared milk allergen, according to the FDA. The product, Wegmans Semi-Sweet Chocolate Nonpareils, could trigger life-threatening reactions in people with milk allergies.

The candy, made by Mellace Family Brands California, Inc., was sold in plastic tubs labeled with specific lot codes and best-by dates ranging from December 2025 to April 2026. Though no illnesses have been reported, customers are urged to return the item for a full refund.

The recall affects shoppers in New York and several other states. Concern centers around the packaging, which failed to list milk as an ingredient, posing a serious risk to allergy-sensitive consumers.
