Anthony Rizzo is officially a free agent.
The first baseman opted out of his contract with the New York Yankees on Monday, according to a report from MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
The 33-year-old hit 32 home runs and posted a .817 OPS in 130 games this past season for the Bronx Bombers.
Rizzo was set to earn $16 million in 2023 before opting out.
New York acquired Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline in 2021 and re-signed him to a two-year deal in March.
