New York residents can get 50% off their Lyft fee if they use rideshare to get to the polls on Election Day.

The code VOTE22 will add a 50% discount worth up to $10 for a ride to the voting polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022.
The ride company is also working with other nonprofit organizations to give residents access for the early voting period and general election.
Lyft helping to get people to the polls
According to CNY Central, the rides are part of Lyft’s Voting Access program.
The program targets the transportation issues that many voters face, making them unable to get to the polls.
11.2 million Americans who are older are estimated to have disabilities that limit their ability to travel or leave their home. This data comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
29% of younger people have said they never voted because they have no ride to get there and younger communities of minorities are 30% more likely to have transportation issues that young white people when it comes to voting. This data comes from surveys completed by Harvard.
Lyft Director of Social Impact, Lisa Boyd, shares that she thinks everyone’s voice and vote deserves to be heard. She added transportation should not be a barrier and Lyft is happy to get voters in the state to the polls on Election Day.
