Rawlings announced their Gold Glove Award winners on Tuesday ahead of Game 3 of the World Series, and two New York Yankees earned some well-deserved hardware.
Jose Trevino and DJ LeMahieu were selected as American League Gold Glove winners. It is the first career Gold Glove for Trevino and fourth for LeMahieu.
Trevino’s 21 defensive runs saved were also the most in the Majors among catchers. He is the third Yankee to win a Gold Glove as a catcher, joining Elston Howard (1963-64) and Thurman Munson (1973-75).
LeMahieu won his Gold Glove at the newly established utility spot. He appeared at first base (35 games), second base (41 games), and third base (47 games) in 2022.
It is the first time the Yankees have had multiple Gold Glove winners since 2012 when first baseman Mark Teixeira and second baseman Robinson Canó were both honored.
