Horseheads driver with DWI conviction earlier in 2022 faces felony charges after multi-vehicle crash in Penn Yan

Police say a 52-year-old Horseheads resident was arrested after first responders were called to a multi-vehicle crash in the village.

Janice Rumsmoke, 52, was charged with felony DWI, felony driving with a BAC over 0.08%, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable, and consumption of alcohol in a vehicle.

It all happened Sunday evening, around 9:52 p.m., when police were called to a portion of North Avenue in the village.

During the investigation, police said Rumsmoke showed signs of intoxication.

Rumsmoke was found to have a previous DWI conviction earlier this year in the town of Henrietta. As result, Rumsmoke was held pending arraignment.

The Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance Corps assisted at the scene.
