The New York Yankees have dropped the first two games of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros after falling 3-2 on Thursday night at Minute Maid Park.
Luis Severino served up a three-run home run to Alex Bregman in the bottom of the third inning, and that was the difference in the game as Houston held on for the victory.
The Yankees plated both of their runs in the top of the fourth, which were unearned. Anthony Rizzo put New York on the board with a groundout, and Gleyber Torres drove in a run with an infield single.
It looked as if Aaron Judge gave the Yankees the lead with a two-run shot in the top of the eighth, but Kyle Tucker made a leaping catch against the right-field wall to keep it in the ballpark.
New York had just four hits and struck out 12 times. They have now struck out 30 times in the first two games of this series.
The series will shift to the Bronx as Game 3 is set for Saturday at 5:07 p.m.
