Yates County has applied for $400,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to allow residents to repair or replace aging wells and septic systems.
More repairs left to do after grant award four years ago
The county legislature held a public hearing on the application at its August meeting. Yates County Administrator Nonie Flynn says the county received CDBG funds four years ago, but it wasn’t enough to do all the work that was needed.
The money will be combined with a $750,000 Mobile Home Replacement Grant and a $400,000 rehab grant, both received by the Keuka Housing Council. Once the grant is awarded, Keuka Housing Council will have two years to complete the work.
Housing Council Director Renee Bloom told the legislature there’s a long waiting list for the program.
