LATEST: Man indicted for string of Ithaca burglaries

A man has been indicted for burglarizing multiple Ithaca businesses, said Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten on Thursday.

Michael Thomas, 33, of Newfield, faces 16 counts of burglary in the third degree related to a string of commercial robberies that occured in June and July.

Businesses that were burglarized include Antler’s Restaurant, Ithaca Wholesale Furniture, Rosie’s Ice Cream Shop and more.

Burglary in the third degree is a class D felony. According to the Tompkins County DA’s office, the maximum penalty is seven years imprisonment.
