Canandaigua residents will soon get trash totes.
The city of Canandaigua provides residential trash and recycling pickup, but previously had residents purchase their own totes.
That’s changing, as for the first time, the City will provide new trash totes.
The change will come in a matter of days, after approval at its August 9 meeting, where City Council gave the green light.
The city is going to purchase around 7,200 96-gallon trash containers and 3,600 replacement recycling containers. It will require the City move around $69,000 from the fund balance surplus to pay for it. The total cost of the effort will be $536,396.
