Livingston County Clerk Andrea Bailey has announced that the County Clerk’s Office will offer extended hours on Thursdays starting September 1, 2022.
Beginning next week, the office will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
“The County Clerk’s Office is pleased to offer extended hours on Thursdays to accommodate residents who may have circumstances that prevent them from coming in before 4 p.m.,” added Bailey. “I believe that it is important to be available to those who I serve. Extending our operating hours will provide our community with some added flexibility.”
The County Clerk is an elected official who serves as the clerk of the state supreme and county courts and is responsible for providing files, records and indexes of papers in legal actions and proceedings. The Clerk also maintains judgment dockets and records of monies paid or ordered to be paid into the court.
In addition to court duties, various statutes require that the County Clerk record deeds, mortgages, and liens, file maps, financing statements and military discharges, process pistol permits and passports, qualify notary public appointments in the county, file oaths of office of county officials and employees and act as the agent of the commissioner of motor vehicles to issue motor vehicle registrations and licenses.
