Lyons man arrested after injuring animal

Police say a Lyons man was arrested after an investigation into animal cruelty.

According to a news release, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested David E. Merkley Jr., 31, of Lyons for torturing and injuring animals.

Deputies arrested Merkley Jr., after an incident where he caused injury to a domestic animal. The animal was signed over to the Humane Society of Wayne County.

Merkley Jr., will appear before Lyons Town Court at a later date.
