Seneca County Arts Council’s Artwork Gallery Artist for the Month of August is Geri Mormile. Geri is the mother of council member photographer, Kerry Nephew. Geri painted from her early twenties until her eighties when she passed in 2016. She lived in Western New York and was known for painting florals, trees, and rural landscapes. She was an avid gardener and it showed through the vivd colors in her florals. She was known for showing how the early light filterer through the trees. Depicting light was one of her trademarks.

She won numerous awards, to include: first place, peoples choice, and best in show. She had a one-woman show at the Harold L. Olmstead Center for the Arts in Springfield, NY in 2011 and at Chautauqua Lake region at Lakewood Memorial Library.
The Gallery also has a wide variety of art, photography, jewelry, pottery, and other crafts on view. Stop in and enjoy talking to our friendly artistic volunteers. The Artworks Gallery is located at 109 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls.
The gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The gallery is staffed by volunteers. Please call 315-257-0201 if you’re making a special trip to make sure the gallery is staffed. For more information visit here.
