Governor Kathy Hochul is being urged to sign a bill intended to increase hospital billing transparency.
It’s the HEAL Act, and would allow ratepayers to know prices before they are billed.
Several labor unions sent a letter to Governor Hochul, asking her to move on the bill.
“Signing this law will allow unions, employers and local governments to access all their claims data and make smart purchasing decisions,” the letter reads.
The cost of healthcare in the U.S. continues to increase. Especially for private sector employers. Hospitals are currently able to hide prices from consumers, which create a complex scenario for all to navigate.
