The Bath Police Department says its taking a stand against the state’s new concealed carry laws.
The village police department made the announcement on Facebook, noting that officers will not arrest people who have concealed carry pistol permits and licensed handguns.
“The police cannot be everywhere,” the post reads. “Your right to protect your family and others is our priority.”

The new concealed carry law prohibits carrying concealed weapons on public transportation, as well as most public places like schools and government buildings.
The Bath Police Department says they will confer with the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office before making any arrests.
