Add Cayuga County to the list of communities that will not consider lessening its take on gas tax.
The Cayuga County Legislature has joined the Ontario County Board of Supervisors in the Finger Lakes region, saying they will not consider a potential gas tax cap.
A lengthy discussion took place at the legislature’s Ways and Means Committee meeting, according to The Citizen. A number of options were debated, but after an update from the county’s finance director, the support wasn’t there.
A major reason for this, according to county officials, is the gap between forecasted sales tax revenue and actual revenue.
