Clifton Springs man arrested after abandoning dog in village

Authorities say a 28-year-old was arrested after a lengthy investigation into an abandoned dog in the village of Clifton Springs.

The Ontario County Humane Society reports that thanks to numerous tips from the public, the boxer type dog who was found tied to a tree, belonged to Tamarius Nelson, 28, of Clifton Springs.

He was charged with animal abandonment as a misdemeanor and issued appearance tickets to appear in court at a later date.

The dog is named Bandit, and will be placed up for adoption in the near future.

The Humane Society was assisted by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
