A late-night traffic stop in Waterloo led to the arrest of a man on multiple felony charges, including driving while intoxicated and operating without a valid license.
Chad C. Weaver, 38, of Waterloo, was taken into custody on June 25 at approximately 10:50 p.m., according to the Waterloo Police Department.
The arrest followed a traffic stop where Weaver was observed failing to maintain his lane. Police determined he was intoxicated, with a reported blood alcohol concentration of 0.13%. Investigators also found that Weaver held only a revoked non-driver ID due to a prior DWI conviction. Because of his history, the new DWI charges were elevated to felonies.
Weaver was charged with felony DWI, felony DWI with a BAC greater than 0.08%, and felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree. He was issued appearance tickets for those charges as well as traffic violations for unsafe lane change and possessing an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Fayette court at a later date.
