State police say they’re investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened in the town of Lysander.
It happened around 5:57 p.m. on Sunday, July 17 at the intersection of Cold Springs Road (Route 370) and Hicks/Hayes Road.
A 2022 Jeep Compass, operated by John J. Schairer, 25, of Baldwinsville was traveling east on Cold Springs Road when he approached the intersection with Hayes Road/Hicks Road.
Schairer began making a right turn onto Hayes Road when he abruptly changed directions and began to turn left onto Hicks Road and drove into the path of a 2021 Mazda, operated by Elica Ilioska, 61, of Baldwinsville.
Ilioska was transported to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Schairer had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel and was transported to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A 24-year-old front seat passenger in the Schairer vehicle was transported to Upstate University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, too.
Two backseat passengers, ages four and five, were transported with their parents to Upstate University Hospital as a precaution.
The investigation is continuing.
State Police were assisted at the scene by Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps (GBAC), Northern Onondaga Volunteer Ambulance (NOVA), American Medical Response (AMR), Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department, and Liverpool Fire Department.
