The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 9-1, on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park. Lehigh Valley leads the six-game series 3-2.
Sterling Sharp made the start for Rochester and surrendered five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three of the five runs in the first inning.
The Red Wings struggled to generate offense as they went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left six runners on base. Their lone run of the game came in the seventh as Taylor Gushue ripped an RBI single to right. Josh Palacios collected three of the six hits.
Michael Plassmeyer tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings for the IronPigs.
Josh Ockimey and Scott Kingery each drove in three runs for Lehigh Valley.
The Red Wings and IronPigs will wrap up their six-game series on Sunday at 5:35 p.m.
