Rochester Red Wings blank Lehigh Valley, 4-0

The Rochester Red Wings blanked the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-0, on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park. With the victory, the six-game series is now even at a game apiece.

Washington Nationals’ top prospect Cade Cavalli started on the mound for Rochester and tossed a gem. The right-hander fired seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Cavalli did not give up a hit until the sixth inning.

Jake Noll opened the scoring in the second and extended his hitting streak to six games with his seventh home run of the season to make it 1-0. Noll collected his second and third RBI of the game in the third with a two-run double.

Joey Meneses plated a run in the seventh with an infield single. Meneses had four of Rochester’s 10 hits.

Hunter Harvey, who was added to the roster before the game on a rehab assignment, threw a scoreless eighth. Alberto Baldonado closed it out in the ninth.

Lehigh Valley had just five hits in the game with two coming from Will Toffey.

The Red Wings will send Cory Abbott to the mound on Thursday night for the third game of the series. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
