SSI payments are being distributed TODAY
The latest round of SSI payments will go out July 1, 2022. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides financial support to those in need that are 65 or older, or are blind and disabled. You can apply online, at a local office or over the phone at 1-800-772-1213.
However, not everyone receives the same monthly benefit. Some states add money to the federal SSI payments.
Your benefit could also be reduced if you have other income like wages, pensions, or Social Security benefits. If someone pays your household expenses or if you live with a spouse and he or she has income, your benefit could also be reduced.
In order to qualify, you must be a US citizen or a national of the US, but some noncitizens can qualify as well. You also must live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands.
However, there are exceptions for children of military parent(s) assigned to permanent duty outside the US and certain students temporarily living abroad.
