The Syracuse Mets fell to the Norfolk Tides, 8-6, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park. Despite the loss, Syracuse won the series by taking four of six.
The Mets led 6-3 after three innings, but Norfolk scored five unanswered runs to secure the victory.
Travis Blankenhorn crushed a three-run home run, and Johneshwy Fargas smacked a two-run shot to lead Syracuse’s offense. The other run came on a fielding error. Mark Vientos and Fargas combined for four of the team’s eight hits.
Alec Kisena started on the bump for the Mets and allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings while walking two and striking out four. Bryce Montes de Oca allowed a pair of runs in relief, while Jake Reed and Jose Roriguez had scoreless outings.
The Mets will be back in action on Tuesday night against the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
