For weeks the focus has been on high gas prices.
Now, a new reality for drivers. While fuel prices continue to increase by the day, the number of motorists running out of gas has, too.
The national average for a gallon of gas is $5.00. That’s 19 cents higher than it was a little more than a week ago.
“We have seen a slight increase in roadside assistance calls from drivers who ran out of gas trying to get to the gas station just kind of on their daily commute. So that’s up about a half a percent of our total call volume, ”AAA Communications Specialist Valerie Puma explained.
Puma added that it’s not the best plan to let your vehicle run very low on fuel. There’s sediment at the bottom of every gas tank. Sediment that could be damaging to the health of your vehicle’s engine.
