Maine will be sending out tax rebate checks worth $850 for individuals.
The first round of checks was sent last week, and more will go out this week.
Who is eligible?
In order to qualify for the rebate check you’ll need to meet the income requirements. To qualify, your income must not exceed:
- single filers- $100,000
- head of household- $150,000
- couples filing jointly- $200,000
The rebate is based on 2021 tax returns, which must be filed my October 31. You won’t be eligible if you are claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return. Somewhere around 858,000 Maine residents are eligible for the stimulus.
When will I get my check?
The day you receive payment will depend on when it was issued. The 5,000 residents that were sent checks last week could see the money any day now. The Department of Administrative Financial Affairs is now at peak processing capacity and will send 200,000 checks on a rolling basis throughout the week. If you are worried about when you’ll get the check, you can check the status here.
