What does the July 15 deadline signify?

As mentioned above, the IRS holds around $1.5 billion in refunds for people who haven’t filed. However, as of July 15, 2023– you will no longer to be able to claim anything from 2019.

If you still need to file your 2019 return, you won’t be able to do it online. You can mail in your refund forms before the deadline to stop the IRS from keeping your money.

You have three years to file your taxes and claim your refund without a late filing penalty.  Taxpayers who didn’t file a 2019 tax return risk loosing some significant money. This is because many people qualified for the ETIC– which is a credit worth up to $6,557 in 2019.
