Senator Helming recognizes 2022 Youth Leadership Recognition Award recipients

Each year the New York State Senate recognizes young people with the Youth Leadership Recognition Awards. Senator Pam Helming celebrated award recipients from the 54th District during an awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 25th at Finger Lakes Community College.

Senator Helming said, “It’s so important to celebrate our young people for their hard work and successes. This program is the perfect opportunity to honor the students from my district who go above and beyond in the classroom and in their communities. They are impressive scholars, student leaders, volunteers, many are athletes, artists, and musicians, and most of all, they are incredible role models with bright futures.”

Students from across the 54th District were nominated by teachers, school counselors and school board members. This year’s Youth Leadership Recognition Awards recipients include:

James Cuddy from Auburn High School; Mycah Bennett, Ava Bugenhagen and McKenna Eckdahl from Canandaigua Academy; Olivia Davis from Gananda High School; Katherine Cline and Lily Metcalf from Marcus Whitman High School;
Aidan Conover, Mary Givens, Maeghan Mahoney, Jennifer Petracchi, and Mackenzie Wheeler from Midlakes High School; Matthew Adamson, Erika Newcombe, and Elizabeth Share from Palmyra-Macedon High School;
