The New York Mets fell to the San Franciso Giants, 9-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Oracle Park.
With the loss, New York dropped two of three to San Francisco.
Thomas Szapucki made his first Major League start, and it did not go well at all. The left-hander allowed nine runs on seven hits and recorded just four outs. The bullpen did an outstanding job as Trevor Williams (3.2 IP), Colin Holderman (1.0 IP), Chasen Shreve (1.0 IP), and Seth Lugo (1.0) had scoreless outings.
Francisco Lindor homered while Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte had run-scoring groundouts. New York had just five hits and Lindor collected two of them.
The Mets will get the day off on Thursday before they begin a six-game homestand on Friday, starting with three against the Philadelphia Phillies.
