The Pancreatic Cancer Association of WNY announces the application deadline for the Michael F. Contestabile (MFC) Memorial Scholarship is June 30, 2022. The MFC Memorial Scholarship was created as a one-time annual grant of $1,000 to help ease the financial burdens families affected by pancreatic cancer face related to their child(ren)’s educational needs.
The Scholarship is open to high school and college students who have been directly affected by pancreatic cancer due to a parent being diagnosed or have suffered the loss (death) of a biological parent(s) due to the disease. The Scholarship, named in memory of Michael F. Contestabile, was created by his three children (Savannah, Michela, and Michael) to honor his memory. Contestabile passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of 46 when his children, now adults, were very young.
The Pancreatic Cancer Association of WNY also hosts an annual golf tournament in Michael Contestabile’s memory as golf was a favorite past time of his. The event, this year, is on Monday, July 11th at Eagle Vale. The Scholarship will be awarded to three recipients during the golf tournament.
