Here’s how to donate to help families of the Buffalo shooting victims

Crowdfunding website GoFundMe has put together a page listing six verified fundraisers to help the families of the Buffalo shooting victims.

The goals for the fundraisers range from $15,000 to $200,000 and aim to cover funeral expenses for the 10 people killed in Saturday’s mass shooting at a Tops supermarket and help the victims’ families financially.

AG James warns of sham charities created in wake of shooting

On Sunday, May 15, New York State Attorney General Letitia James issued an alert to New Yorkers warning them of sham charities created in response to the attack in Buffalo.

“In the wake of tragedies, like the horrific shooting in Buffalo, scammers often take advantage of acts of kindness for personal gain,” said James. “As New Yorkers from every corner of the state show their support and solidarity with the Buffalo community, I urge them to be careful of sham charities and make sure they give to trustworthy organizations and groups. I join the whole Buffalo community and the entire state of New York in mourning this senseless, hate-filled act of terror.”

You can find a list of tips for donating to those impacted by the Buffalo shooting on the NYS Attorney General’s website.
