The Rochester Red Wings extended their win streak to seven games with a 6-4 victory over the Worcester Red Sox on Friday night at Polar Park.
Rochester scored the first six runs of the game and Worcester scored the last four.
Taylor Gushue broke the scoreless tie in the third with an RBI double to center.
In the fifth, Rochester put up a five-spot to make it 6-0. Joey Meneses, Donovan Casey, and Josh Palacios had RBI singles. The other run came on a throwing error by the center fielder. Christin Stewart put Worcester on the board in the bottom half of the frame with a solo home run to right-center. Later in the inning, Jarren Duran smoked a two-run double to center to make it a three-run game.
Yolmer Sanchez capped off the scoring in the game with a solo home run to right in the ninth.
Matt Lipka had a multi-hit game for the Red Wings.
Jefry Rodriguez got the start for Rochester and allowed three runs over 4.2 innings. Jordan Weems surrendered a run in relief.
The two teams will continue the six-game series on Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
