The New York Mets fell to the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-1, on Saturday night at Citi Field.
New York couldn’t generate much offense, scoring just one run on four hits.
Taijuan Walker, who was just reinstated from the injured list, tossed five shutout innings and allowed two hits. Adam Ottavino really struggled in relief as he allowed three of the four runs while Sean Reid-Foley allowed the other. Trevor May and Chasen Shreve each had scoreless appearances.
The Mets only run came in the fifth when Brandon Nimmo scored on a fielder’s choice.
Philadelphia scored three of their four runs in the seventh. Kyle Schwarber crushed a two-run shot to center and Odubel Herrera lined a RBI double to left.
Rhys Hoskins capped off the scoring in the eighth with a solo home run to left-center.
Mark Canha had two of New York’s four hits.
The Mets will try to take two of three from the Phillies on Sunday night. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
