In California, the Middle Class Scholarship (MCS) program will help cover up to 40% of the cost for tuition and fees. Read more about it here.
Before you think about MCS, be sure that you’ve applied before the deadline for your chosen college, the earlier the better. If your household income and assets are less than $191,000 a year you should qualify.
The MCS program will contribute between 10-40% toward your tuition and fees. Other qualifications include:
- being a California resident or have AB 540 status
- not in default on a student loan
- maintain satisfactory academic progress
- file FAFSA/ California Dream Act by the deadline
